Big Brown turned in an easy five-furlong breeze in 1:04 3/5 on the Aqueduct turf course Aug. 28 in preparation for the $500,000 Monmouth Stakes Sept. 13.

The son of Boundary, who is coming off a victory in the $1-million Haskell Invitational Handicap (gr. I) on the Monmouth dirt track, won his career debut on turf at Saratoga last year by 11 1/4 lengths.

The Monmouth Stakes, which will be run at 1 1/8 miles, will mark his second start on the grass.

Fans attending the race will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt that commemorates the colt’s victory in the Haskell.

The Monmouth Stakes will serve as a prep for the Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) Oct. 25, which will be run over the synthetic surface at Santa Anita.
