Louisiana native Jason Boulet has been named racing secretary at Fair Grounds.

Boulet, 39, has served as racing secretary at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, La., since 2005. He is no stranger to Fair Grounds or racing in Louisiana, having worked in the sport since 1990 on the backstretch, in racing offices and as a jockey agent.

He worked at Fair Grounds from 2002-05 in a variety of capacities, including a brief stint as racing secretary just prior to Churchill Downs Incorporated’s purchase of the track. He also served as assistant director of racing, stakes coordinator and assistant racing secretary.

“We are excited to have Jason Boulet re-join our staff at Fair Grounds,” Soth said. “Jason brings to us a unique blend of experience and a great relationship with horsemen both nationwide and in Louisiana.”

“We are pleased to welcome Jason to the Churchill Downs racing family,” said Churchill Downs Incorporated senior vice president of racing Donald R. Richardson. “We very much look forward to making racing at the Fair Grounds the best possible during the winter months.”

Said Boulet: “Going back to Fair Grounds is like coming home. The four years I was at Evangeline was a great experience that has helped get me ready for this challenge. I’m really excited about this opportunity. This is like a dream come true.”

Boulet will begin his duties at Fair Grounds in September, following the conclusion of Evangeline’s Thoroughbred meet. Soth will serve as racing secretary for next month’s inaugural Quarter Horse meet at the track.
